PART A & B
Medicare Part A & B Insurance
There are four parts to Medicare:
Medicare
Part A
Also called hospital insurance for individuals who are eligible for Medicare.
Medicare
Part B
Also called medical insurance, covers outpatient care.
Medicare
Part C
Commonly referred to as Medicare Advantage, is an alternative to Original Medicare.
Medicare
Part D
The prescription drug plan helps pay for medications doctors prescribe for treatment.
Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A, also called hospital insurance for individuals who are eligible for Medicare. Medicare customers can see any doctor in the country that accepts Medicare. There are no Medicare networks. Hospital insurance (Part A) helps pay for inpatient care in a hospital or skilled nursing facility, following a hospital stay, some home health care and hospice care. Medicare Part A usually has no premium, as long as you have worked 10 years or 40 quarters during your lifetime.
Medicare Part A provides hospital care, although this includes a number of ancillary services as well. This includes:
- Hospice Care
- Home Care
- Nursing Homes
Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B, also called medical insurance, covers outpatient care. Together, Part A and Part B make up Original Medicare which only covers 80% of your care. Medical insurance (Part B) helps pay for doctors, many medical services and supplies that are not covered by hospital insurance such as Ambulance Transportation, Mental Health Services and Medical Equipment.
Medicare Part B provides physician services and preventative care. It also includes:
- Ambulance Transportation
- Clinical Research
- Mental Health Services
- Medical Equipment
- Outpatient Drug Coverage (Limited)
